Arrived safely in new Orleans this afternoon after driving through alabama:
And Mississippi:
Where we saw this creepy looking rest stop bathroom (isn’t this what prison looks like?!!?):
and checked into our hotel! We took a nice walk around the French Quarter… The weather was a little chilly but beautiful, and the cobblestone streets and treacherous and sweet. The people here are so friendly and the city has so much soul. We had a delicious fried shrimp po-boy for lunch, with a local Abita beer. I snacked on some famous char grilled oysters, but kept them away from Diane in hopes we would avoid an anaphylactic shock incident.
After a little more walking and getting a feel for the town, we showered and headed off to dinner at Cochon. We had a gorgeous Red Fish filet and collard greens which were delicious!! We treated ourselves to a chocolate pecan tart topped with bourbon chocolate ice cream that was OUTRAGEOUS.
We each only had one bite (Har Har).
After dinner we walked around Frenchmen street looking for live music. We found a bunch of cool acts including an African inspired one playing REALLY cool instruments. Here’s Diane looking gorgeous as usual:
And here’s us at the apple barrel bar where we ended up:
And now it is 2am and time for BED! We will be spending all of tomorrow in New Orleans, so no driving! Tell you more later!
